Curator's Comments & Review
Titled The Hunt, the vertical composition centers entirely on your beloved old friend Jaxx frozen in a state of high-alert concentration amidst a sun-drenched front yard garden path.
Capturing a short-haired brindle coat in a state of sudden, active movement requires a deep sensitivity of the brush. The undisputed triumph of the artwork is your brilliant execution of the massive overhanging shade tree.
By framing the left margin with a heavy, deeply textured, dark charcoal-umber tree trunk and a dense canopy of emerald-green leaves, your brush casts a beautiful, protective shadow across the foreground patio tiles, forcing the luminous, light-filled portrait of Jaxx sniffing the path to step forward with immense gallery authority.
The painting features your crisp signature and date along the lower right border: M.R. Campos 6-2023
